Damn Cool Pics shows a whole series of images under the title of Real Life Incredible Hulks. I’m not sure what these guys find aesthetically pleasing about their looks - they have an uncanny (while slightly overdone) similarity with those poor gene-mutated animals below .

Typical, the empire has to be different from the rest of the world - apart from Liberia and Myanmar; these three countries are the only ones in the world who have not adapted the metric system.

I’m not sure how much I like the shape of this building but a couple of things about it are quite remarkable. First: it was designed by a 14 year old boy, the son of a Finish sculptor. Second: it is changing colour - thanks to being covered with special polymeric fiber panels that change colour through the application of electricity.

I found myself quite occupied today with watching Australia’s leg of Live Earth, which by and large was a great event - but also quite time consuming ;). So I missed out on mentioning that yesterday, 120 years ago was Marc Chagall’s birthday - one of the great painters of the 20th century, as well as printmaker and designer. Chagall was born in what is Belorussia now. He composed his images based on emotional and poetic associations, rather than on rules of pictorial logic. Predating Surrealism, his early works, such as I and the Village (1911), were among the first expressions of psychic reality in modern art. His works in various media include sets for plays and ballets, etchings illustrating the Bible, and stained-glass windows. There is plenty of information on the net on Chagall, so I don’t want to get into to doing a highly condensed copy and paste job; I rather do that pictorially with a few paintings I really like - primarily for the associative character.
